  2023-09-09

The major strength of this study is the large sample size which increases the statistical power to detect the likely subtle differences in peripheral methylation observed in psychiatric disorders (Olsson et al., 2010). Larger studies help provide more robust estimates of true associations, as small

• The role of DHT in early

  2023-09-09

The role of DHT in early teleost embryogenesis is not entirely clear or established, however additional studies that treat fish embryos to DHT or to specific srd5a inhibitors at critical stages of development (i.e. prior to sex differentiation) will shed light on the early functions of this androgen

  2023-09-09

Among the AXL-positive tumors that we screened, the TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231 showed the highest AXL expression level. Additionally, AXL protein levels were higher in TNBC patient samples than in other breast cancers. Considering the difficulty of, and the urgent need for, effective treatments of TN

We conducted the largest drug screen to date in HPV-positive cancers and identified Aurora kinase inhibitors as effective and understudied drugs in HNSCC and CESC. These drugs cause apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in vitro and decrease tumor size in vivo. This is the first published study to demonst

  2023-09-09

The most likely explanation for the species differences in aromatase distribution and the unique BI 6015 distribution in humans is the unique location, size and highly elaborate organization of the human aromatase gene (e.g. Bulun et al., 2003). The human Cyp19 is a large gene located on chromosome

  2023-09-08

The application of diuretics induce an increased rate of water exiting brain cells encouraging the formation of increased intracellular polyphosphoric acid. In the absence of the diuretic water is retained in cells converting polyphosphoric 74 to monophosphoric acid. The latter change decreases the

In the past few years, several experimental findings have demonstrated a pivotal involvement of adenosine also in driving the phenotypic switch of macrophages. In particular, the stimulation of A2A and A2B receptors seems to play a critical role in switching macrophages from M1 to M2 phenotype [37,6

  2023-09-07

The apoptosis-promoting Bcl-2 family includes BH3-only proteins (e.g., Bim, Bid and Bad) and multiple-domain proteins (e.g., Bax and Bak). At the time of apoptosis stimulation (e.g., DNA damage), only the BH3-only protein is activated, directly or indirectly promoting Bax/Bak oligomerization, changi

  2023-09-07

TLRs play a key role in pathogen recognition and early response. In our study, we showed an increase of TLR2 mRNA and protein expression after BMECs were stimulated by S. aureus, as seen for BMECs in a previous study [25]. Although most studies describe TLR4 as a primary receptor for Gram-negative b
