  2022-11-03

Introduction Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by muscle weakness, which is mainly due to autoantibodies reducing the number or function of postsynaptic rilpivirine synthesis receptors (AChRs) [1], [2]. Animal models have been developed to uncover the immunopathogenesis

• Five alternatively spliced isoforms of ATX

  2022-11-03

Five alternatively-spliced isoforms of ATX have been described and all are catalytically active [16], [17]. The original ATX described in 1992 is termed ATXα, whereas the most abundant isoform is ATXβ and is the same isoform responsible for plasma lysoPLD activity [18]. Full length ATX is synthesize

  2022-11-03

Protein phosphorylation is an important posttranslational mechanism for the regulation of distribution, trafficking, and function of modified proteins (Wang et al., 2014). GluA1 phosphorylation at S845 also has functional consequences (Lu and Roche, 2012). For instance, S845 phosphorylation drove tr

• Among steroid saponins ginsenosides are the active component

  2022-11-03

Among steroid saponins, ginsenosides are the active components of ginseng, a well-known chinese medicinal plant. More than hundreds of different ginsenosides have been isolated from ginseng and have shown in the past to be membrane active substances and to influence the membrane by modulating lipid

  2022-11-03

It is reported that calpain-2 plays a critical role in BDNF-induced signaling and memory formation, and knockdown of calpain-2, but not calpain-1, completely suppresses BDNF-induced pathway activation and protein translation (Briz et al., 2013). BDNF prevents neuronal apoptosis or death (Ferrer et a

  2022-11-02

It has been demonstrated that the hallmarks of pulmonary fibrosis are a loss of endothelial function and subsequent activation of the immune system, which is considered as a direct outcome affected by intracellular pro-inflammatory responses [26]. Thus, inhibition of early inflammation could be an i

  2022-11-02

In an effort to increase antioxidant properties of peptides from WP, Le Maux et al. (2016) altered the hydrolysis conditions (pH, enzyme type, reaction time, and temperature). Hydrolysis of WP (81% protein) test samples with papain (EC 3.4.22.2) at a constant pH of 7.0 gave significantly higher ORAC

  2022-11-01

Growing evidence indicates that GRKs can exert different effects within the cell depending on the stimulus, cell type, and localization [97], [121]. In this sense, we were the first to demonstrate a mitochondrial localization for GRK2 [122], later confirmed by other investigators [123], establishing

  2022-11-01

The only psychostimulant treatment option in Turkey is methylphenidate (Çetin et al., 2015). It is broken down by carboxylase enzyme (CES1) (Sun et al., 2004). From the point of pharmacokinetics, it may be suggested that CES1 gene polymorphisms may be the key responsible factors in patients resistan

Expression of adiponectin mRNA in chickens We first sought to determine the nucleotide sequence of the chicken adiponectin cDNA. The open reading frame of the chicken adiponectin cDNA consists of 735 nucleotides that was 65–68% homologous to various mammalian adiponectin cDNAs (Maddineni et al.,

• APPL is highly expressed in pancreatic cells but its levels

  2022-11-01

APPL1 is highly expressed in pancreatic β cells, but its levels are significantly decreased in several mouse models of obesity and diabetes, including HFD-induced obese mice and db/db mice [6], [73], suggesting that the dysregulation of APPL1 may be associated with malfunction of the pancreas in obe

• An alternative to the agonist or antagonist potential

  2022-11-01

An alternative to the agonist or antagonist potential in drug discovery is the positive allosteric modulator (PAM) approach, which can augment the normal processes of neurotransmission as opposed to directly replacing or antagonizing them. PAMs are thought to bind to sites that are distinct from the

  2022-11-01

Besides Arg2 overexpression, our data revealed that AGEs could decrease eNOS mRNA levels, which is considered a significant cause for attenuated NO production and vasodilation. It was found recently that AGEs significantly reduce eNOS expression levels and NO bioavailability in human carotid artery
