  2025-02-07

Atherosclerosis is a chronic lipid metabolism disorder linked with lipid accumulation within the arterial wall and subsequent formation of foam cells and vascular disease [96], [97]. The level of apelin is decreased in human atherosclerotic coronary arteries [4], and coronary collateral formation in

  2025-02-07

AP-1 was originally described as a heterodimer of the bZIP proteins c-Jun and c-Fos. The experiments described here showed that stimulation of TRPV1 channels induced the expression of both of these classical constituents of AP-1. The essential role of both proteins was analyzed in a series of experi

  2025-02-07

Different antioxidants were described as useful biomarkers in monitoring response to treatment in human and veterinary medicine [33,65,66]. In the same line, Thiol and TAC also proved to be useful biomarkers in monitoring the post-ovariohysterectomy period in queens with pyometra, since antioxidants

  2025-02-07

Plant pathogenic fungi have caused a lot of economic losses to agricultural production worldwide every year. It is necessary to develop an bio-sourced antifungal agent for agricultural use. Many researches have shown that the antifungal activity of quaternized chitosan derivatives is mainly affected

  2025-02-07

Despite the absence of disulfide bonds in its linear structure, KT43C displays antifungal and antibacterial activity. Disulfide bonds are determinants of defensins' integrity and have been reported to increase the antimicrobial activity (Jenssen et al., 2006). However, some linear derivatives of AMP

  2025-02-07

Mechanism of action In general, the main targets for antifungal drug development are cell wall polymer (glucans, chitin, mannoproteins), cell membrane (especially ergosterol) biosynthesis, DNA and protein synthesis (topoisomerases, nucleases, elongation factors and myristoylation), and signal tra

  2025-02-07

The fluorescence in a fluorescent antibiotic can be derived either from functional groups with intrinsic fluorescence in an existing antibiotic, or via synthetic conjugation of a fluorophore to an antibiotic core to enable visualisation. Attachment of fluorophore to an antibiotic should ideally not

  2025-02-07

AR expression in breast tissue Although androgenic signalling is chiefly associated with the development and maintenance of primary and secondary male characteristics, especially during puberty when the testes are by far the major source of testosterone, the AR also plays important functions in f

  2025-02-07

Due to its unique histological architecture and blood supply, the lung is one of the most susceptible organs under uncontrolled systemic inflammatory circumstance [16]. Several studies have reported the anti-inflammatory benefits of metformin in acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS),

  2025-02-06

Preclinical models indicate roles for adiponectin in the maintenance of hepatic lipid metabolism. Adiponectin overexpression prevents accumulation of triglycerides or the deleterious lipid metabolites diacylglycerols or ceramides [5,8]. Direct manipulation of adiponectin expression demonstrates a po

In the past 10 years, the role of the CD73-adenosinergic pathway in suppression of anti-tumor immunity has increasingly been recognized [13], [14]. In this review, we discuss the latest findings dealing with the regulation of anti-tumor immunity by CD73 and adenosine. We also discuss ongoing clinica

That disassembling BG45 filaments transport chromosomes towards the spindle in oocytes may be surprising at first sight. On the other hand, it is well established that chromosome movement during anaphase is driven by the depolymerization of microtubules [20]. It will be interesting to investigate t

  2025-02-06

Similar to V1, the temporal neocortex of mammals, including the primary auditory cortex (A1), is densely innervated by 5-HT fibers originating mainly in the dorsal raphe nucleus (Campbell et al., 1987, Harding and Paxinos, 2004, Törk, 1990), and the major hiv protease inhibitors of 5-HTRs are expres

  2025-02-06

ATM is generally regarded to be the principal mediator of the G1 Neuroactive peptide checkpoint, whereas the induction of the intra-S-phase and G2/M checkpoints are usually primarily related to ATR function. However, several studies have demonstrated that, depending on the cellular context and type
