After infection with Salmonella those bacteria that are not targeted by autophagy of the complete Salmonella-containing phagosome (see above) but are living freely in the cytosol can be eliminated by xenophagy, that is direct targeting of the ‘naked’ bacteria to the autophagic pathway. The type III

  2024-11-01

While it is known that circulating LDL-C levels are largely regulated by either controlling the rate of hepatic production of its triglyceride-rich precursor VLDL particle or the rate of LDLR-mediated LDL particle clearance [58], it should be noted that important differences exist between rodents an

Aminoglutethimide, first generation aromatase inhibitor, has been tried as an antiepileptic drug in combination with other standard drugs (Aguilar et al., 1961). Letrozole is a third generation reversible non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor, approved by US-FDA, for the treatment of postmenopausal wome

It is now well established that the cumulative exposure to endogenous estrogens throughout a woman's life, mainly due to her reproductive history, has an impact on the risk of hormone-dependent breast cancer (Lambertini et al., 2016). Prolonged exposure to estrogens in the case of early age at menar

In large biopsies series from ALK+ NSCLC treated patients, the number of detected mutations increased after second generation ALKi (Gainor et al., 2016) and in one study were present in 56% of the entire cohort (Shaw et al., 2013b). For example, the rate of G1202R mutations increases from 2% in post

  2024-10-31

Ozone-induced innate inflammatory responses in the lung involve neutrophil extravasation through enhanced trans-endothelial migration (Krishna et al., 1997). Conclusions The present data suggest that homeostatic balance of the cortical/hippocampal adenosinergic tone is necessary for normal working memory function and any deviation appears to impair performance – either as a consequence of A2AR under-activation when adenosine levels are reduced or due

  2024-10-31

6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) is a selective catecholaminergic neurotoxin mainly used to generate lesions in the nigrostriatal pathway in rats (Ungerstedt, 1968). The most common use of 6-OHDA is via unilateral injection into the rat medial forebrain bundle (MFB). DA depletion, nigral DA cell loss, and

  2024-10-31

Aurora kinases are a conserved family of serine/threonine kinases that are important for the transition through mitosis and amplification and overexpression of Aurora kinases have been implicated in PF-3845 and transformation. Aurora B is located at the centromere and controls aspects of kinetochor

Bioavailability has been defined as the amount of a drug given by any route, other than intravenously, that reaches general circulation and is available at the site of action [86]. The low bioavailability observed with the initial intravaginal devices (16%) was attributed to the melting point of the

PF-06409577 is orally bioavailable and has appropriate pharmacokinetic properties for use in rodents, allowing us to evaluate its impact on lipid and cholesterol biosynthesis in vivo (Cameron et al., 2016). PF-06409577 lowered the incorporation of 14C-acetate into hepatic lipids in vivo in a dose de

  2024-10-30

Interestingly, we noticed that LPS exposure was associated with decreased phosphorylation of AMPK and increased phosphorylation of p70S6K1, suggesting that AMPK inactivation and the subsequent mTOR activation might be involved in the development of LPS-induced inflammation. On the other side, treatm

A central question that arises in this discussion is whether enhanced neurobehavioral responses to food cues emerge as a consequence of weight gain, or whether there are intrinsic differences in the motivational responses to food cues that precede weight gain. In support of pre-existing differences,
